Nereida (Bermudez) Melendez, 80, of New Bedford died Friday November 3, 2006 at home after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Peter Melendez.
Born in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Sixto and Ampara (Suarez) Bermudez, she lived in New Bedford since 1954.
She was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Mrs. Melendez was formerly employed by Justin Clothing Company as a floor girl.
Survivors include a daughter, Nereida M. Philla of New Bedford; two brothers, Noel Bermudez of Brooklyn, NY and Freddie Bermudez of Puerto Rico; a sister, Soraida Rodriguez of Puerto Rico; four grandchildren, Peter Noel Philla, William Philla, David Andrew Philla, and Debra Bergeron; and six great-grandchildren.
She was the great-grandmother of the late Andrew Kelsey.
