Lucy A. (Vena) Murphy, 85 of Franklin died suddenly November 8, 2006 in the Milford Regional Medical Center. She was the companion of John L. Tormey for the past 45 years.
Born in Cambridge on August 31, 1921 the daughter of the late Nicolo and Laura Vena, Lucy was raised in Cambridge and had lived in Dorchester for many years before moving to Franklin 25 years ago.
She had been a manager for the Prudential Insurance Company for over 35 years before retiring. She was an accomplished artist and enjoyed reading.
In addition to Mr. Tormey, she is survived by her son, Kevin Murphy of Arlington, her daughter, Arleen Longo of Hempstead, New Hampshire, her brother, Patrick Vena of Waltham and sisters, Angie Griffin of Medford and Mary Button of Hudson. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Koreen Soucy, Melissa Brown, Jessica and Robert Wood.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, November 13 from the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main St. Franklin (ginleyfuneralhomes.com.) at 8:15 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary’s Church, Church Square at 9:00. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Calling hours will be on Sunday from 2 – 4 p.m.
