Paul T. Francis, 74, of New Bedford, died unexpectedly Saturday, Sept. 21, 2002, at St. Luke’s Hospital.
He was the son of the late Frank T. and Emma (Lorsbach) Francis.
Born in New Bedford, he lived in Onset and Freetown for many years before returning to New Bedford.
He was a graduate of Holy Family High School and Providence College.
Mr. Francis was an accomplished photographer and most recently had shown his work at several local galleries including the Bierstadt Gallery and the New Bedford Art Museum. There he was featured in the recent exhibition “7 SouthCoast Photographers.”
He was a member of the Bierstadt Arts Society and the Melville Towers Social Club and wrote articles for the Melville Towers newsletter.
He enjoyed building model airplanes and was a past member of the New England Aero Team.
He also enjoyed designing stereo speaker systems and was a published author on the topic.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Louise Francis-Sylvia and her husband, Paul, of Acushnet; a son, James J, Francis and his companion, Betty Ann Oliveira, of New Bedford; a sister, Bettie-Anne Francis of New Bedford; two grandchildren, Adam P. Sylvia and Erin M. Sylvia; and two nieces and a nephew.
He was the brother of the late John S. Francis.
