Mrs. Evelyn F. Smith, 95, died Thursday, November 09, 2006 at her home on Beaver Lake, Derry. Mrs. Smith was born in Bakers Station, PA on August 13, 1911, a daughter of the late Hugh and Nancy (Wright) Williamson. Known to her family as an avid knitter, she also greatly enjoyed her plants, bird watching, and all other aspects of nature. Mrs. Smith enjoyed being a volunteer at the Wheeling Hospital, Wheeling, WV and the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. Additionally, she was active in the Derry Garden Club, Derry Women’s Club, and Windham Women’s Club. Mrs. Smith was a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Derry.
Mrs. Smith is survived by two nieces: Nancy Farmer of Derry and Beverly Yuhasz of Hillsborough, NC; two nephews: Tom Pearson of Centerville, OH and Charles Pearson of Sandown, NH; six grand nieces and nephews; five great grand nieces and nephews; and two great great grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 50 years, Charles K. Smith in 1988; her two sisters: Geraldine Giles and Hester Pearson; and her brother, Isaac Williamson.
There were no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, November 15th at 10 AM in the St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. Following cremation, Mrs. Smith was buried with her husband at Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pleasant Valley Resident Activities Fund, 8 Peabody Rd., Derry or to a charity of one’s choice. Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry is handling arrangements.
