Obituary

WORCESTER- Marion T. (Harding) McGourty, 96, of South Stowell Street, and Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, died Wednesday November 8th in St. Vincent Hospital after a short illness. Her husband Charles G. McGourty, Sr. died in 1987. She leaves a son, Charles G. McGourty, Jr. U.S.N. Ret., and his wife Marjorie, of Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter, Joan M. McGourty, two sisters-in-law, Rita Harding and Mary Harding all of Worcester; five grandchildren, Debra Oreto, Charles McGourty, Michael McGourty, Donna Williams and Sharon McGourty; twelve great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. Three brothers, J. Francis Harding, Edward T. Harding and Joseph T. Harding, two sisters Katherine E. Harding and Margaret M. Boland, and a nephew John F. Harding, Jr., predeceased her.

She was born in Worcester, the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary T. (Brick) Harding. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1928 and later from Becker Junior College. Mrs. McGourty was a member of St. Stephen’s Church. She enjoyed cooking for her family, sewing and traveling, and was an avid Celtics & Red Sox fan. Mrs. McGourty will be remembered as a warm, gentle and loving mother, grandmother and aunt.

The funeral is Saturday, November 11th, from O'CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue, with a Mass at 10:30 A.M. in St Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton Street. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, November 10th, from 4:00 until 7:00 P.M. in the funeral home.
