Obituary

Phyllis (Simonelli) Catalano, 96, a long-time resident of Winchester, formerly of Chelsea, died on Tuesday, November 7 at Winchester Hospital. Born in the North End of Boston, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Mary (Gaeta) Simonelli. Phyllis was raised, educated and married in the North End. She and her late husband, Andrew Catalano, were married in St. Leonard’s church there in 1934, and enjoyed many happy years together until his passing in 2001. They lived and raised their family in Chelsea, coming to Winchester in 1959. Phyllis’ life was centered around her home. She loved cooking and taking care of her family. She will be dearly missed by her children, David A. and his wife Joanne of North Andover, Andrew J. Jr and his wife Germaine of Boca Raton, FL and Joseph R. and his wife Angela of Winchester. She was the dear sister of the late Anthony, Jerry and Mike Simonelli and Mary Gasdia. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren , nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Costello Funeral Home, 177 Washington St., Winchester on Monday Nov. 13th at 9AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church Winchester at 10AM. Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Sun. from 2-6PM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to the American Heart Assoc., 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
