Grover W. Douglas, 79, of Mystic, Georgia died Tuesday, November 7 at the Irwin County Hospital.
Funeral services will be held 2 PM, Friday, November 10 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla. Interment will follow in Mystic Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Thursday evening at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mr. Douglas was born October 9, 1927, in Jackson County, Florida, to the late Eddie William and Flordia Lewis Douglas. He lived in the Mystic Community for the past 32 years from Worth County. Mr. Douglas was a farmer, former welder at Tifton Cotton Mill and former co-owner/operator of Harper’s Upholstery Shop in Mystic. He was of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Douglas is survived by his wife: Clydie G. Douglas of Mystic; daughters and sons-in-law: Martha Ann & Tony Handley of Mystic, June & Truman Groover of Jamesville, NC, Judy & Melvin Hunt of Mitchell County and Wanda & Earl Bridges of Albany; son: Herschel Douglas of Sylvester; 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; sister: Bernice Harris of Sumner. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Douglas, 1 granddaughter, 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
