Sister M. Francena (Lucille) Morin, 83, a Sister of Mercy for 62 years, died Monday, November 6, 2006, at Warde Health Center in Windham, N.H., after a long illness. A native of Berlin, New Hampshire, she was the daughter of Paul E. and Leonie (Marcoux) Morin.
Sister Francena received her B.A. and M.A. degrees in education from Mt. St. Mary College, Hooksett, N.H. She was a dedicated teacher and administrator in Catholic schools in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. She taught junior high school students at Holy Trinity School, Somersworth; St. Mary School, Dover; St. John School; Laconia; St. Joseph School, Manchester; and St. John School, Concord, all in New Hampshire. She also taught at St. Ann School in Gloucester, Mass. Sister Francena served as principal of St. Thomas Aquinas School, Derry; Sacred Heart School, Nashua; St. Louis School, Nashua; Dover Regional Catholic School; and Sacred Heart School, Hampton.
Other ministries in which Sister Francena served include Assistant Financial Aid Director at Castle College in Windham, N.H., and Assistant to the Nursing Director at Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I. She also volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua and was office assistant at the Sisters of Mercy Administrative Offices in Windham, N.H.
Family members include a sister, Jane Toelkes of Pawley’s Island, South Carolina, a brother Laurent E. Morin of Silver Spring, Maryland, and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Warde Health Center, 21 Searles Road, Windham, N.H. on Wednesday, November 8, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. A prayer service will be held at Wednesday at 6:00 p.m. in Our Lady of Mercy Chapel at the Warde Health Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, November 9, at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bedford, NH
