**Change of Service Days**
CARVER - Lawrence W. Roode, 81, of Carver, formerly of East Bridgewater, died Sunday, Nov. 5, 2006, at New England Sinai Hospital in Stoughton. He was the husband of the late Irene M. (Rosa) Roode.
Born Feb. 8, 1925, in Brockton, he was the son of the late Stanford and Grace (Hiscoe) Roode.
Raised and educated in Brockton, Mr. Roode was a graduate of Brockton High School.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in World War II, where he received the Army of Occupation Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
Mr. Roode was a purchasing agent at Thayer Scale in Pembroke for more than 30 years, retiring in 1989.
He had been a resident of Carver for the past 5 years, coming from East Bridgewater, where he lived for 45 years.
Mr. Roode was a member of the VFW in Bridgewater and enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, Bridge and Wist tournaments, casinos and traveling.
He was the father of Richard J. Roode and his wife Joan of Luquillo, Puerto Rico, and Geraldine Buchanan and her husband James of Somerset; brother of the late Florence Wood; uncle of Claire Adams of Raynham and Elaine Pacheco of Plymouth; brother-in-law of Ogenia Ellis of Bridgewater. Also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A Graveside service will be held in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Center St., Bridgewater, Friday at 10 am.
Visiting hours in the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Thursday from 4-8 pm.
