TEWKSBURY - Anthony M. Paone, 78, a decorated Army Veteran, died Thursday evening,Sept. 19, at his Tewksbury home after a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Marguerite I. "Rita"(Calla) Paone, with whom he would have celebrated a 52nd wedding anniversary in October.
He was born in East Boston, Sept. 19, 1924, a son of the late Alexander and Elia (Cataldo)Paone. He lived the greater part of his life in East Boston, but had been a resident of Tewksburyfor the past 7 years.
During WWII, he served in Co. I, of the 103rd Infantry Division, and earned medals and ribbonsfor campaigns in both Europe and the Pacific.
He was employed as an agent for MetLife in the greater Boston area throughout his career.
He was a communicant of St. William’s Church and a member of the Beachmont (Revere) V.F.W.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Debra and John Fitzgerald ofWilmington, a son and daughter-in-law Edward and Lisa (Mintz) Paone of Jericho, VT, twosisters, Mary Miano of Melrose and Grace Dell of Ipswich, three grandchildren, JosephFitzgerald, Alex Paone, Taylor Paone, and many nieces and nephews.
He was also brother of the late Paul Paone.
His Funeral MassMonday was held Monday, Sept. 23 in St. William's Church. Interment was in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
