Obituary

Ethel (Swartz) Sandberg entered into rest on Sunday, November 5, 2006 at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home. She was 88 years old and a former resident of Chelsea, Revere, and Brighton.

Born on November 26, 1917 in Chelsea, the daughter of the late Nathan and Ida (Chudnofsky), Mrs. Sanberg was raised and educated in Chelsea and a graduate of Chelsea High School. Wife of the late Harold Sandberg, who died in 1965, Mrs. Sandberg dedicated herself to being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home Auxiliary and the Choral Group at the Jack Satter House in Revere.

Mrs. Sandberg is survived by her children, Iris Rice of Peabody and Arthur and his wife Susan Sandberg of Mansfield; her grandchildren, Alyssa, Hillary, David, Adrienne, Daniel, and Jordan; her great-grandchildren, Justin, Nina, Matthew, Mia, Ava, and Rachael; and her sister Sylvia Weiss of Chelsea. She was the sister of the late Joseph Swartz, Sidney Swartz, and Mollie Levine.

Mrs. Sandberg's funeral service will be held in the Torf Funeral Chapel, 151 Washington Avenue, Chelsea on Tuesday, November 7, 2006 at 1:00 PM. Rabbi Howard Kosovske of Temple Beth Shalom of the North Shore will officiate. Burial will immediately in the Linas Hatzedek Cemetery, 232 Fuller St. Everett. Memorial observance will be held at the home of Iris Rice through Wednesday evening. Those wishing to remember Mrs. Sandberg may do so through memorial donations to the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home Foundation, 17 Lafayette Ave. Chelsea, MA 02150.

Mrs. Sandberg's family would like to express their eternal gratitude to the nurses, aides, and entire staff of the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home for the love and care that they have given to their mother and grandmother.
