Ruth U. (Limerick) McCawley, 83, of Middleboro died November 3, 2006 at the Oaks Nursing Home after a period of declining health.
She was the wife of the late Joseph T. McCawley.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Christopher J. and Ruth V. (Winsper) Limerick, she lived in New Bedford before moving to Middleboro in 1985.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Middleboro and a former communicant of St. Lawrence Church.
Mrs. McCawley was formerly employed as a supervisor of field investigations for the Massachusetts Division of Employment Security for many years until her retirement.
Mrs. McCawley was a graduate of Holy Family High School, Class of 1941 and attended the Kinyon Business School.
She was a member of the Catholic Women's Club and the Daughters of Isabella. She enjoyed reading, watching professional golf, and was a amateur historian on local genealogy.
Survivors include a son, Joseph T. McCawley, Jr., and his wife Diane E., of Middleboro; two daughters, Ruth McCawley Geoffroy, and her companion George P. Hussey, of Middleboro and Rita Maureen McCawley of Venice, FL; a brother, Christopher J. Limerick, Jr. of San Diego, CA; a sister, Rita Limerick of Middleboro; two grandsons, Lt. Kevin P. Geoffroy, U.S.A.F. of Albuquerque, NM and Daniel J. Geoffroy of Boston.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday, November 7th at 9 AM followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 10 AM. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, November 6th from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Holy Family-Holy Name School, 91 Summer St., New Bedford, MA 02740.
