Sr. Lillian (Rita) Rochon RJM
Manchester– Sister Lillian (Rita) Rochon RJM, 89, died November 1, 2006 at Holy Cross Health Center following a period of declining health. From 1998 to the present she resided at Holy Cross Health Center.
She was born in Fall River Mass. on October 9, 1917, the daughter of Leo and Lillian(Arsenault) Rochon.
She professed her first vows in 1947, in Sillery P.Q. Canada.
She was a graduate of Jesus Mary Academy in Fall River Mass. She graduated from Catholic University of America with a Bachelors degree with a major in Art. She was a gifted artist, having taught art to adults and children, either in a classroom setting or through Thevenet Art Studio at Regina High School which flourished for over 30 years. She created original pieces in ceramics, and paintings, which won for her recognition nationwide. In her retirement she was awarded a certificate of appreciation for demonstrating a commitment to healthy aging through “Bridging The Generations” sponsored by BC/BS of New Hampshire.
She taught in many religious institutions throughout N.H, R.I., N.Y. and M.D.
Family members include her brother Roger Rochon of Warwick RI, and several nieces and nephews.
Services: Calling hours will be on Tuesday from 9:00 to 10:15 am in Holy Cross Health Center, 357 Island Pond Rd.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 am in Holy Cross Chapel. Burial will follow in Villa Augustina Cemetery.
