WORCESTER____Blanche E. (Kunigonis) Matukaitis, 89, formerly of 13 South Ward St., died Wednesday November 1 after a period of declining health in Christopher House. Her husband, Peter J. Matukaitis died in 1980.
She leaves a son, Paul D. Matukaitis and his wife Janet of Tewksbury, NJ., two daughters, Carol A. Bacinskas of Newington, CT., and Anne Marie Marino and her husband Thomas of Holliston; her sister, Ruth (Valadka) Lakus of Worcester; a dear niece, Ruth Lawrence and her family of Worcester; eight grandchildren, one great-grandson and several nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by a son, Peter J. Matukaitis, Jr., and a son-in-law, Daniel Bacinskas. She was born in Worcester, a daughter of Ignas and Vira (Walute) Kunigonis.
Mrs. Matukaitis worked for more than 20 years at Worcester Academy and retired in 1976. She was a member of St. Casimir Church.
The funeral will be held on Saturday November 4 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward Street with a Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Casimir Church, 41 Providence Street. Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. A calling hour will be held on Saturday November 4 from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
