LOWELL—Francis Patrick ‘Babe’ Moloney, 81 years old, a lifelong resident of Lowell, died Thursday, November 2nd, at Lowell General Hospital. He was the husband of Betty Jane (Chester)(Greenwood) Moloney, who survives him, and husband of the late Lorraine (Ashe) Moloney, who died in 1964.
He was born in Lowell, on March 19, 1925, son of the late Patrick and Elizabeth (Lynch) Moloney, and was a graduate of St. Peter’s Grammar School and Keith Academy.
Mr. Moloney had been employed for many years as a Jeweler by Jordan Marsh, in Boston, Wood Abbott Jewelers, in Lowell; and by Hayes Jewelry, in Chelmsford. He was a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church and the former St. Peter’s Church. He held membership in the Knights of Columbus, Council #72, the Lowell Lodge of Elks, Lodge # 87, and the Friends of St. Peter’s.
Surviving him besides his wife are his five sons and their spouses: Patrick and Maureen Moloney, of Londonderry, NH; Joseph and Dorothy Moloney, of Lowell; Peter and Kim Moloney, of Dracut; Kevin Moloney, of Lowell; and Richard and Lisa Moloney, of Lowell; three step-children and their spouses: Cindy and James Kelley, of Center Heights, OH; Tim and Darlene Greenwood, of Pelham, NH; and Tracey and Pat Greenwood, of Sterling; his grandchildren: Jen, Lauren, Katelyn, Kara, Allison, Shannon and Kelly Moloney; Jennifer and Emily Kelley; Lisa, David, Joseph and Rebecca Greenwood; a brother: Atty. Edward J. Moloney, of Dracut; also many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was the brother of the late Anne Marie Moloney.
Friends may call from 2 to 6 PM on Sunday, November 5th, at the MAHONEY FUNERAL HOME, 187 Nesmith Street, (Rte. 38). His Funeral Mass to be offered Monday, November 6th, at 11 AM at the IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH. Burial in St. Patrick Cemetery.
