RICHARD D. MARQUES, a Hingham resident since 1964, died on Wednesday, Nov. 1st at Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. He was 78. Mr. Marques was born in Boston and was raised and educated in Quincy, graduating from Quincy High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran of World War II and enjoyed boating, fishing, golf and playing pool. Many years ago, he was a sales manager for the Patriot Ledger and later worked in sales in the oil industry, first for the Quincy Coal & Oil Co., then with Shultz, Doyle & Stoddard of Scituate. In recent years, he established his own consulting firm called Enersol, a business dealing in home heating equipment.
He leaves his wife, Jean L. (Ericson) Marques of Hingham; 2 sons, Peter Marques of Conway, NH and David Marques of Hadley, MA; a daughter, Linda Kelley of Norwell; a brother, Raymond Whitehouse of Cohasset and 5 grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be conducted on Sunday, Nov. 5th at 1 PM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.
Friends may visit with the Marques family at the Downing Chapel on Saturday from 2-5PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688.
The interment is to be private.
