Robert J. Fay, 75, of Mattapoisett died November 1, 2006 at Alden Court Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after a long illness.
He was the husband of the late Rebecca M. (LaBrecque) Fay.
Born and raised in Fall River, the son of the late James and Helen (Murphy) Fay, he lived in Mattapoisett most of his life.
Mr. Fay was a communicant of St. Anthony's Church.
He was formerly employed as a data processing manager at Old Colony Vocational High School for many years until his retirement. He served as assessor for the Town of Mattapoisett for many years.
Mr. Fay was a professional jockey before being drafted into the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include 3 sons, Robert J. Fay, Jr. of New Bedford, Michael Fay of Dartmouth and Kenneth Fay, and his wife Amy, of Brookline, NH; a daughter, Shauna Cannon, and her husband Thomas, of Fairhaven; a brother, William Fay of Phoenix, AZ; a sister, Betty Bay of Somerset; 3 grandchildren, Ian Fay, Graham Fay and Caleb Cannon; several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late James Fay.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett Sautrday, November 4th at 9 AM followed by his Funeral Mass in St. Anthony's Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, November 3rd from 4-8 PM.
