Obituary

Beloved Hildegard E. Waechtler. age 97, passed away peacefully on September 17, at the home of her daughter and son-in –law, Inge and Leonard Matzdorff, of 4 Hillside Drive, where she had lived for the past three years.

Mrs. Waechtler was born in Chemnitz, Germany the daughter of Anna and Otto Bauer. Formerly, of Stuttgart, Germany, she made her home there for 45 years.

Earlier in her life, she worked as a seamstress in a textile mill and at a chocolate factory. During World War II she worked at a defense plant.

She married Paul W. Waechtler in 1940 and had two children, Inge (Waechtler) Matzdorff of Gales Ferry, and Edith Lipmann of Chemnitz, Germany.

Mrs. Waechtler is survived by her daughters, and 5 grandchildren, Karen Hone of Pawcatuck, Linda Marks of Waterford, Steve Matzdorff of Spokane WA, David Matzdorff of Waterford, and Ursala Thierfelder, of Chemnitz, Germany.

In addition to her parents, her husband, a brother, two sisters and a great grandchild predeceased her.

A Private Service for the family will be conducted on Friday at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic. Burial will be in Avery-Stoddard Cemetery, Ledyard. There are no visiitng hours..
