Antone M. "Tony" Silva, 87, of New Bedford died October 31, 2006 at Southeastern Massachusetts Health and Rehabilitation Center after a brief illness. He was the husband of Rose (Pina) Silva.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Miguel A. and Maria A. (Almeida) Silva, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mr. Silva was formerly employed as a construction worker with various local construction companies for many years until his retirement in 1982.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He was a member of the Cape Verdean-American Veterans.
Survivors include his wife; two brothers, John Silva of Dartmouth and Theophilo Silva of New Bedford; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the stepfather of the late Robert Michaels and brother of the late William "Chucha" Silva and Margaret Fortes.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals Saturday, November 4th at 8 AM followed by his Funeral Mass in Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 9 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday, November 3rd from 2-4 and 7-9 PM.
