Obituary

Raymond C. Caron, 76 of Derry, NH died Monday, October 30, 2006 in the Parkland Medical Center, Derry. Ray, as he was known, was born in Derry on October 29, 1930, a son of the late Thomas L. and Alice L. Caron, Sr. Ray was a lifelong resident of Derry and a graduate of Pinkerton Academy Class of 1949. He later attended Hesser Business College in Manchester for two years. While at Pinkerton Academy Ray was on the championship-winning basketball teams from 1947 – 1949. He had been penned as “a package of TNT on the court” by a local sports reporter. Ray served with the US Army from 1952- 1953 during the Korean Conflict. Ray retired from Jewell Instruments in Manchester, NH. He received a lifetime membership from the American Legion Lester Chase Post #9 in Derry, in recognition for his years of service there as Treasurer. Ray volunteered for the Derry Community Fund, the American Red Cross and was also a communicant of St. Thomas Aquinas Church of Derry.
He is survived by his wife, Janet Caron of Derry, a brother, Thomas L. Caron of Derry and a sister, Dorcas Bertrand and her husband, Robert of California, as well as many nieces and nephews.
There are no calling hours. Following cremation, a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:00am on Friday, November 3rd in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, E. Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Caregivers of Greater Derry, 58 E. Broadway, Derry, NH 03038 or to the Sonshine Soup Kitchen, 4 Crystal Ave., Derry, NH 03038.
