Mary Lou Johnson Williams, age 69, passed away Monday, October 30, 2006. She owned Williams’ Flowers and Gifts in Water Valley, MS. She was President of the Garden Clubs of Mississippi, Incorporated; Executive Board of the Garden Clubs of Mississippi as Hills & Delta District Director & 3rd, 2nd, & 1st Vice president; served on the Regional Council for the Deep South of the National Council of Garden Clubs and Alternate Delegate of the Deep South Region; National Garden Clubs Jr. Garden Chairman; President of The Garden Club of Water Valley; Board of Directors of the Water Valley Chamber of Commerce; President of the Water Valley Jr. Auxiliary; President of the Water Valley American Legion Auxiliary; President of the Water Valley PTA; Charter President of the Water Valley Pilot Club; District Membership Leader for the Louisiana-Mississippi Division of Pilot International; life member of the Water Valley Jr. Auxiliary; Outstanding Personalities of the South; served on Northwest Girls Scout Council; Graduate of the University of Mississippi; and a member of the Phi Mu Sorority. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Water Valley where she served in various leadership and teaching positions with special interest on the youth.
The visitation will be held at Seven Oaks Funeral Home on Wednesday evening, November 1, 2006, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in Henry Chapel of Seven Oaks Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2006 with Dr. Randy Bain, Rev. Raymond Aven, & Rev. Jim Allen officiating. The committal will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in Water Valley, MS.
She is survived by her husband, Harold G. Williams, Sr. of Water Valley, MS; one daughter, Kathy Johnson Williams of Oxford, MS; one son, H. Grey Williams, Jr. of Water Valley, MS; one granddaughter, Jessica Grey Williams of Water Valley, MS; and Jessica’s mother, Kim Williams of Water Valley, MS.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents, Vernon B. and Maifred Reese Johnson.
