Peter D. Gallagher, 86, of Windham, NH died Saturday October 28, 2006 in the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH. Mr. Gallagher was born in Port Reading, NJ on October 31, 1919, a son of the late Dominic and Anna (Larsen) Gallagher. He had resided in Windham for the past four years, formerly living in Tewksbury, MA and Brick, NJ. He was a US Army WWII veteran having served for four years in the European Theater. He retired from Western Electric after 38 years employment. He was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church, Londonderry, NH.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Eleanor (Govelitz) Gallagher of Windham; one son, Richard Gallagher and his wife Sally (Fleming) of East Haven, CT; three daughters: Arline Newman and her husband, Michael of Tewksbury, MA, Janet Graham and her husband, James of Bradford, MA, Carol Gallagher of Haverhill, MA; four grandchildren: Jennifer Maher of Mt. Pleasant, SC, Michael Gallagher of Perth, Australia, Courtney Graham of Knoxville, TN, Kelley Graham of Bradford, MA; also three great grandchildren: Caitlin, Peter, and Maeve Maher, all of Mt. Pleasant, SC; and his brother, Daniel Gallagher of Orlando, FL. He was predeceased by his sister, Catherine Gallagher and two brothers, Francis and James Gallagher.
A mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Wednesday, November 1st at 10:30am in St. Mark’s Church, corner of South Rd. and Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. Calling hours were held on Tuesday from 5 – 8pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 290 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. The burial was in the NH Veteran’s Cemetery, Boscawen, NH with military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice House, 210 Naticook Rd., Merrimack, NH 03054.
