Marilyn S. Lewis, 84 of Pelham, NH, died Friday, October 27, 2006 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry, NH. Ms. Lewis was born in Derry on June 22, 1922, a daughter of the late Arthur K. and Rena (Roberts) Smith. She was a resident of Pelham for four years, formerly 33 years in Chester, NH and had also lived in Derry. Ms. Lewis had worked for the Rockingham County Home, Manchester Ladies Aid Society and Pelham Senior Center. She belonged to the Fortnightly Club in Chester and the Pelham Senior Center. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and canning.
She is survived by six sons, Richard Lewis of Chester, Steven Lewis of Exeter, NE, David Lewis of Florida, William Lewis of Maryland, Arthur Lewis of Derry, Alan Lewis of Manchester, NH, 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, her longtime companion, Charles Hobbs of Pelham, a brother, Arthur K. Smith of Houston, TX and a sister, Marsha Campbell of Florida. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Lewis, Jr. in 1992 and her sister Aileen Hinchee in 2005.
Visiting hours were held Thursday, November 2, 2006 from 12:00 – 2:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. The funeral service was held Thursday at 2:00pm in the funeral home. The burial followed in Great Hill Cemetery, Chester. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Pelham Senior Center Council on Aging, 6 Nashua Rd. Pelham, NH 03076.
