Herbert Bannister, 57, of Blackshear, died Thursday, October 26, 2006, at Satilla Regional Medical Center in Waycross. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 29, 2006, at 4:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. John Cone will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. Friends of the family will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 29, 2006, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Bannister was born on January 7, 1949 in Tifton and was the son of Billy Mitchell Bannister and Wedes Turner Bannister, both deceased. He was a retired truck driver and of the Baptist faith.
Mr. Bannister is survived by his wife, Karen Diane McKinney Bannister of Waycross; two sons, Shannon Lee Bannister of Waycross and Shawn Joseph Bannister of Waycross; one daughter, Shalina Fay Parsons of Hilliard, Florida; one brother, Bobby Bannister of Jacksonville, Florida; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Billie Faye and John Odum of Blackshear and Joyce Howard of Bryceville, Florida; and two grandchildren, Cassidy "China" Bannister and Mickey Bannister.
