Obituary

Laconia-Louis George “Pete” Guay, 86, of 34 Taylor Street died Thursday morning, October 26th, 2006 at Lakes Region General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer.

Louis was the son of the late Joseph A. and Estelle (Brassard) Guay. He was born in Laconia on October 17, 1920 and had been a life long resident.

Prior to his retirement Louis worked for the former Vernitron Corporation in Laconia as an assembly supervisor. He also worked for many years at the former C.A. Lund Ski Manufacturing Plant in Laconia, as well as a funeral assistant at Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home. He was a WWII Army veteran serving in the European Theater of the war with the First Division.

Louis was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Laconia. He was a member of the Laconia Veteran’s of Foreign Wars Post 1670, and a life member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks B.P.O.E. 876.

Louis was predeceased by his two brothers, Maurice and Alfred Guay.

Louis is survived by his wife of 65 years, Eva J. (Rollins) Guay of Laconia, two daughters, Norma R. Frisbie and her fiancé Kenneth Smith of West Virginia, and Jeannette A. VanHagen and her husband Philip of Belmont, NH; four grandchildren, Lori Pepin of Candia, NH, Lisa Isabelle of Deerfield, NH, Kelly Laramie of Laconia, and Mark Laramie of Belmont, NH; four great-grandchildren, Erin, Kevin, Dylan, and Cassandra. Three nephews also survive Louis.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday October 30th, 2006 at Sacred Heart Church, 291 Union Avenue Laconia at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Adrien R. Longchamps pastor of the church celebrated the mass. Burial with military honors followed in the family lot at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Garfield Street, Laconia. Visiting hours were Sunday afternoon, October 29th, 2006 from 2-4 p.m. at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia, NH. Family and friends were invited to attend.
