Francis E. Corbett, 81, of Millis died, Tuesday, October 24, 2006 at his home. He was husband of Nancy (DeDoming) Corbett who died in 2000.
Born in Newton on October 8, 1925 he was a son of the late Bartholomew and Catherine (Whalen) Corbett. Mr. Corbett grew up in Newton Upper Falls and was a resident of Millis for the past 6 years formerly residing in Franklin for many years.
He was a Navy veteran of WWII serving for 3 1/2 years, attaining the rank of Water Tender, First Class and received the WWII Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Area Medal, Philippine Liberation Medal, American Area Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Corbett retired in 1987 from the General Motors Parts Plant in Westwood where he worked for many years.
He enjoyed camping, fishing, time at the beach and spending time with his family. He was an avid Red Sox fan.
He is survived by; two sons, Thomas Corbett and his wife, Evelyn of Millis and David Corbett and his wife, Gail of Medway, two daughters, Bernadette Corbett of New York and Cathy Corbett of Readsboro, Vermont and a sister, Sr. Mary Corbett of Framingham.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michael and his wife, Diane of Millis, Melissa and her fiancé, Josh of Millis and Adam and Courtney, both of Medway and two special friends, Kari Parrish of New York and David Damarco of Readsboro, VT.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral on Friday, October 27 at 9 AM from the Ginley-Crowley Funeral Home, 3 Barber St. in Medway followed by a funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s Church, 151 Village Street in Medway at 10 o’clock. Burial with military honors will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Medway.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.
