Joseph A. Manzi of Winchester, a retired teacher of English at Medford High School, died suddenly at the Winchester Hospital on Tuesday. He was 63.
Born and raised in Medford, he was the son of the late Anthony and the late Marion (LaVerde) Manzi. Joe graduated from Suffolk University with a BA and from Salem State with a M.Ed. Throughout his 35 year long teaching career, Joe was known as a dedicated educator who brought a wealth of talent to his senior English classes at Medford High. Besides his love for reading and literature, Joe was fond of the cinema and music. He was also a member of the Medford Historical Society.
He was a devoted brother to Dorothy Tarani of Winchester and was a loving uncle to Robert Tarani of Winchester and Monique Tarani-Whelden of Falmouth.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday at 10 AM in St. Mary Church, 155 Washington Street, Winchester. Interment will follow at Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. Family and friends may call Thursday, 4 – 8pm, at the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford.
