AUBURN____Walter J. Lucyniak, 89, of Auburn, died Monday October 23 in UMASS Memorial Medical Center – University Campus, Worcester.
He leaves his wife of 61 years, Helen T. (Prostak) Lucyniak, a son, Dennis J. Lucyniak and his wife Carol of Reading; and two grandsons, Gregory J. Lucyniak and Nicholas W. Lucyniak. He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Catherine H. Lucyniak and two sisters, Adele Canty and Mary Starosta. He was born in Southbridge, a son of John and Mary (Sawa) Lucyniak and he had lived in Auburn for many years.
Mr. Lucyniak was a linotype operator many years for the Worcester Telegram & Gazette and several other area printing companies. He retired many years ago. He was also a musician and was a drummer in several local bands.
Walter was a U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, Worcester and its St. Mary’s Booster Club. He was a life member and welfare officer of the Polish American Veteran’s of World War II, he was a member of the Veteran’s Council, the Disabled American Veterans Chapter 4 and the Polish Naturalization Independent Club.
The funeral will be held on Thursday October 26 from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St, Worcester with a Mass at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Czestochowa Church, 34 Ward St., Worcester. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. Thursday October 26 in the funeral home.
