Helen (Kane) Farrell, 88, a longtime resident of Stoughton, died Monday, October 23, at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. She was the wife of 50 years of John J. Farrell. Born in Co. Galway, Ireland, she was raised and educated in Ireland. Mrs. Farrell immigrated to the United States in the 1940’s and settled in Boston. She moved to Stoughton in 1958. Mrs. Farrell was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Rosary Church in Stoughton. She was a supporter of Stoughton Association for Exceptional Citizens. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, politics and spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband John, she is survived by her children, Ann T. Farrell of MD, John J. Farrell, III of Andover, Eileen R. Farrell of Dighton, Sheila M. Farrell of LA, Stephen F. Farrell of Boston and Kevin M. Farrell of Stoughton. She was the sister of Noreen Kane of Boston, Kathleen McGuire of Ireland and the late Mary Concannon, Delia Faherty and Margaret Mellett. Mrs. Farrell was the grandmother of Kelsey and John Farrell, IV and Sean, Meaghan and Patrick Connor.
Funeral will be held from the Farley Funeral Home, 358 Park St. (Rt. 27) Stoughton on Thursday, October 26 at 9:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at Immaculate Conception Church, Stoughton, at 10:15 AM. Visiting Hours prior to mass from 8:30-9:45AM. Donations in Helen’s name may be made to Stoughton Association of Exceptional Citizens, (S.A.E.C), P.O. Box 153, Stoughton, MA 02072. Burial will follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Taunton.
