Obituary

SALEM - Christine (Courtney) Hill, age 53, wife of Lorenza E. “Lonnie” Hill, I, of Salem, formerly of Dorchester, died Sunday evening October 22, 2006 at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital, Boston, following a long illness.

Born and raised in Boston, she was the daughter of the late John J. and Barbara (Ford) Courtney.

Prior to her retirement, Christine was employed by Verizon for 22 years, starting in Boston, then to Lynn and then in Middleton at the time of her retirement.

A resident of Salem since 1980, she was a member of the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Salem.

Besides her husband Lonnie, with whom she shared 23 years of marriage, she is survived by 2 sons, Lorenza "Lonnie” Hill, II and Spensah Hill, both of Salem, 2 daughters, Amy Courtney of Louisville, KY, Kristin Estes of Salem, 2 grandchildren, Nathan Estes and Kobe Estes, both of Salem, 4 brothers, John J. Courtney Jr. of Londonderry, NH, Michael F. Courtney of Chelsea, Brian K. Courtney of W. Roxbury, James B. Courtney of Whitman, 4 sisters, Barbara A. Crawford of Quincy, Mary A. Stewart of Braintree, Catherine Courtney of Raynham, Patricia A. Courtney of Norwood, and several aunts, uncles, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Linda D. Courtney and Joseph M. Courtney.

Her funeral service will be held Thursday, Oct. 26, 2006 at 10 am at the St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, 24 St. Peter St., Salem. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 4 to 8 pm at the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Relatives and friends respectfully invited.
