Obituary

Charles Edward “Charlie” Holton, 72, of Fitzgerald, Georgia died Saturday, October 21, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.

Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 24 in Evergreen Cemetery with Rev. Earlie Holt officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Monday evening at the funeral home.

Mr. Holton was born March 15, 1934, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Matthew Holton and Eulalia Lane Cannady. He was a retired painting contractor had served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He lived in Albany for 25 years before recently returning to Fitzgerald. He was of the Baptist faith and a former resident of Savannah.

He is survived by his companion and caregiver: Sue Bennett of Valdosta; two sons and daughters-in-law: Chuck E. & Gina Holton of Savannah and Brad & Torrie Holton of Fitzgerald; two daughters & sons-in-law: Phyllis & Martin Moretz of Taylorsville, N.C. and Linda Kay & Larry Swagert of Savannah; eleven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister: Avis Howe of Fitzgerald; step-sister: Inez Young of Fitzgerald; and two step-brothers: Herman Cannady of Tifton and Harold Cannady of Casey, S.C.
