LEBANON, OREGON: Paul J. McCoy, age 94, a former longtime resident of Tewksbury, died Monday, October 16, 2006 at the Samaritan Lebanon Community Hospital in Lebanon, Oregon.
He was the husband of Eleanor (Beattie) McCoy, who died February 18, 2002.
Born in Tewksbury, he was the son of the late James and Jennie (Casey) McCoy.
Mr. McCoy resided in Tewksbury for 89 years until moving to Lebanon, Oregon in 2002.
He attended Tewksbury schools and was graduated from Lowell High School in 1930.
Prior to his retirement in 1982, he was employed as a courier by the Murray Printing Company. Mr. McCoy previously worked as a clerk at Freddy’s Store formerly of South Tewksbury.
Mr. McCoy was a member of the Tewksbury Golden Age Club and Senior Drop-In Center and a charter member of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Lodge of Elks # 2070.
In addition, he was a member and past president of the Billerica Rod & Gun Club.
According to his family, he was an avid outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.
Mr. McCoy is survived by one son; Paul R. McCoy and his wife Joyce (Rivela) of Lebanon, OR; five grandchildren; James D. McCoy, James F. McCoy, Laura J. McCoy, Paul J. McCoy and John A. McCoy; nine great grandchildren; Christopher, Shannon, Michael, Louis, Heather, Megan, Rachel, Haley and Brandon McCoy; also several nieces and nephews.
Mr. McCoy was the father of the late James F. McCoy and brother of the late Madeline Gibson, Wilfred and Thomas McCoy.
Calling hours Monday, October 23rd, from 5-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral services Tuesday, October 24th, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment at Tewksbury Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Friends of the Elderly, c/o Tewksbury Senior Drop-In-Center, 460 East St., Tewksbury, MA 01876 are requested.
