William E. Brousseau, 61, of Norton died on Friday October 20, 2006 at Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston, MA. He was the former husband of Judith A. (Snell) Brousseau and was also the former husband of the late Claire T. (Lapre) Desautel.
Born in Lincoln, Rhode Island on March 13, 1945 he was a loving son of Irene (Walker) Brousseau of Westport, MA and the late Ernest Brousseau.
He was educated in Rhode Island schools. A decorated war veteran he had served in Vietnam for 2 tours of duty, serving in the Untied States Army. He was honorably discharged on March 28, 1968 with the rank of SP5 (T). A Machine Gun Operator he was awarded many medals and citations including The Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, The Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, The Air Medal with 1 Oak leaf Cluster and The Army Commendation Medal. It was while serving in the Army that he received his education to be an Airplane Mechanic, an occupation he made a lifelong career of.
Mr. Brousseau retired in September of this year after being employed for 17 years as an Airplane Mechanic for U.S. Airways at both Logan Airport in Boston and at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick, R.I. He had formerly worked as an Airline Mechanic for 15 years at Eastern Airlines.
An avid outdoorsman he was a lifelong member of the National rifle Association. He was also a member of the Easton Rod and Gun Club and the Gun Owners Action League. He enjoyed taking on building projects. He had lived in Norton for the past 36 years and was formerly of Lincoln, Rhode Island.
In addition to his mother and former wife he is survived by his loving and devoted children Raymond E. Brousseau of Wilmington, North Carolina, Will K. Brousseau and his wife Robin of Millis, Aimee M. Medeiros and her husband Tony of Norton, Kimberly E. Chew and her husband Jon of Norton and Peter R. Gibbs of Foxboro. His sister and brother: Elizabeth Bruce of New Hampshire and Peter Brousseau of Maine. Also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Cameron, Jonathan, Connor, Nicholas and Emilee.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Tuesday October 24th at 10:00 A.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home 55 North Main St. Mansfield. Burial with military honors will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday October 23rd from 6-9 P.M. at the funeral home.
