Raymond A. Martel, Sr., 81, of Dartmouth died Thursday October 19, 2006 suddenly at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of the late Alice F. (Ferreira) Martel.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Harry and Anna (Branchaud) Martel, he had lived in Dartmouth since 1972.
He was a graduate of Fairhaven High School.
He was a communicant of St. George Church in Westport.
Mr. Martel was formerly employed as general manager for the Delken Companies for many years until his retirement in 2005.
Survivors include three children, Alice Martel, Nancy Silva and her husband Edmund, and Raymond A. Martel, Jr. and his wife Helena, all of Dartmouth; two brothers, Emile Martel, Sr., of New Bedford, and Paul Martel of Florida; three grandchildren, Adam Silva, and his wife Lorraine, and Joshua and Alishia Martel, all of Dartmouth; a great-granddaughter, Kaitlin Silva; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Harry and Lawrence Martel.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Monday at 8:30 AM. Funeral Mass at St. George Church, Westport at 10 AM. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery will be private.
