Derry, NH – Mary M. (Sullivan) Houlihan, 84, died Friday October 20, 2006 at the Pleasant Valley Nursing Home.
A resident of Lawrence for the greater part of her life she was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School.
For many years Mrs. Houlihan had been employed as a secretary with the Massachusetts Rehabilitation Commission before her retirement.
Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Her life centered around her family and friends. She was a daily communicant and devout catholic.
One of her most distinct pleasures was the the weekly bingo games she attended with her sister. Mary was happiest when she was in the bosom of her family. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
We will all miss her beautiful smile and contagious laugh. Heaven is no longer missing an angel, but she will be sorely missed by all of us who loved her so much.
The widow of Gerald D. “Hap” Houlihan survivors include daughters; Maureen J. & her husband Robert Blumengarten of Methuen, and Patricia H. Ferrara & husband John of Manchester, NH, 1 son John P. Houlihan of Florida & Salem, NH, brothers, Frank “Sully” Sullivan of North Andover and formerly of Lawrence and William Sullivan of of Derry, NH, a sister Edna Arnfield of Salem, NH, 6 grandchildren Erin, Sean, Sarah, Kathryn, Kerry, & David, 1 greatgrandson Kieran a brother-inlaw Edmund Houlihan and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was predeceased by her son James K. Houlihan.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday morning at 10 o’clock in St. Mary’s Church of Lawrence with entombment to follow in St. Mary-Immaculate Conception Mausoleum.
