Lois P. Child, 88, of Derry, NH died Thursday October 19, 2006 in the Pleasant Valley Nursing Center, Derry. Mrs. Child was born in Concord, NH on July 17, 1918, a daughter of the late, George W. and Pearl (Hodgdon) Philbrick. She has resided in Derry for the past four years, formerly living in Weston, MA since 1949. She attended Concord public schools and graduated from Concord High School, class of 1935. She later graduated from Bates College, Lewiston, ME, class of 1939. She worked as an administrative assistant for the Weston Public School System. She was a life member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Weston. She held memberships in the Golden Ball Tavern Historical Society and the Friends of the Weston Public Library.
She is survived by two sons, Rev. Dr. Kendrick H. Child and his wife Pamela of New London, NH, George W. Child and his wife Enieda of Maricabo, Venezuela, eight grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Ralph W. Child in 1975.
There were no calling hours. A graveside service was held on Saturday October 21st at 11:00am at Blossom Hill Cemetery, Concord. A memorial service will be held on Sunday November 5th at 2:00pm in St. Peter’s Episcopal Church, Weston. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, NH Chapter, 10 Ferry St., Suite 427B, Concord, NH 03301. The Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Derry, NH is handling arrangements.
