John Campopiano, 95, of Old Pocasset Lane, formerly of Moorefield Street in Providence, an insurance agent for John Hancock for many years before retiring, died Thursday at Cherry Hill Manor. He was the husband of the late Iolanda “Viola” (Defusco) Campopiano.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Michele and Sabatina (Simone) Campopiano, he lived in Providence most of his life before moving to Johnston one year ago.
Mr. Campopiano was a member of the Rosario Club in Providence and the Santa Maria DiPrata Society, Cranston.
He is survived by two sons, John M. Campopiano, Sr. and his wife, Joyce of Smithfield, Raymond A. Campopiano and his wife, Roberta of Johnston; four grandchildren, John Campopiano, Joyce Costakos, Jeanne Marcotte and Rebecca Winfield and seven great grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late Janice A. Card and brother of the late Michael Campopiano.
His funeral will be held Monday at 9:00am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Visitation Sunday 4-7pm.
