Barbara (Lindahl) Fowler, 79, died Wednesday October 18th, in the Southwood at Norwell Nursing Facility, after a period of failing health. She was wife of the late Wendell Fowler.
Born in Weymouth, raised in Abington, daughter of the late Edwin and Ebba (Dahl) Lindahl .She was educated in Abington schools, and a graduate of Abington High,
She was a life long resident of Abington.
Barbara was the true definition of a gentle soul and was welcomed into heaven with open arms.she was queit and reserved,loved by all who knew her,whether she busy working at home or at her job she was always pleasant.
Barbara was a caring person dedicated for 46 years as a nurse at the South Shore Hospital in the nursery.She was known as one of the"good nurses to get"to help care for your new babies.She was dedicated,so much so that during the famous blizzard of 78,she called to be transported to the hospital by local police to help out during the staffing shortage.
Barbar loved to dance,Her and her husband Wendy belonged to the 72's dance group for many years.After her retirement she continued this passion by joining 2 line dancing groups and attending monthly senior citizen dances.
Barbara loved her cats.
She enjoyed being with her family,she will be missed but remembered in so many positive ways that memories of her will live on forever in all the hearts of people who knew her
She is survived by her son, , Gary Fowler of Whitman, her daughter, Susan Warner of Abington and her stepson, Dennis Fowler of Abington, her sister Grace Gildersleeve of Fl., also 6 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was also the sister of the late Richard Lindah.
Funeral service will be held Saturday October 21st at 10:00 A.M. in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street, (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, MA. .Burial will follow in the Mt. Vernon Cemetery, Abington, MA. Visiting hours omitted by request. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal Street, Watertown, MA.
