Mario P. Loura, 87, of East Bridgewater, beloved companion of Angelina Chaves of East Bridgewater, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 2006, at Sachem Nursing Home in East Bridgewater.
Born Sept. 22, 1919, in Portugal, he was the son of the late Amelia (Perriera) Loura.
He came to the United States in 1965 from the Azores.
Mr. Loura had been a resident in East Bridgewater for the past 14 years, coming from San Leandro, Calif., where he lived for many years.
He worked in several factories and as a caretaker in California and also worked as a stone mason and painter.
Mr. Loura was a member of St. John Church in East Bridgewater, the Holy Ghost Society and enjoyed music, storytelling, gardening, and fishing.
In addition to his beloved companion Angelina, he is survived by his sons, George Loura of Sandwich, and Anthony and Joseph Loura, both of Hudson; two brothers, Frank and John Loura, both of San Leandro, Calif.; 6 grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
His funeral will be from the Wales-Prophett Funeral Home, 35 Spring St., East Bridgewater, Thursday at 9:15 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John Church at 10 am. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-7 pm. Burial will be in Central Cemetery.
