Rosemond K. Raby, 76, died Saturday in the Beth Israel Hospital in Boston, after a short illness.
Born in Hanson, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence M .and Alice (Haskell) Raby, she spent her life in the immediate area. She attended school in Pembroke, Hanson and Whitman returning to Hanson in 1939 where she’s resided since.
During World War II, she was a member of the Massachusetts Women’s Corp.
Over her lifetime she was employed a several area business including Hanover Rubber Mill, United Shoe Machinery in Whitman (“Shank Shop”),McRoon Kennels in Hanson, Rockland Webbing company as well as a school bus driver in Hanson.
She was a volunteer at the Beverly Manor Nursing Home in Plymouth for the past 12 years.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Wanda Johnston of Fl, Cheryl Quinn of Bridgewater, and William P. Roderick of NH. and Richard M. Roderick of VT.; also survived by six grandnieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Lawrence Raby, Loretta Roderick, and Geraldine Raby.
Graveside services will be held Thursday October 19th at 10:00 A.M. at the Fern Hill Cemetery, High Street, Hanson, MA. Visiting hours omitted by request.
