Dorothy West Santry, 86, of Fitzgerald, died Monday, October 16 at the Life Care Center in Fitzgerald.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, October 20 at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, with Rev. Dan Hayes, Rev. James Hubbard and Rev. Raymond Jacobs officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7:00 to 9:00 Thursday evening.
Mrs. Santry was born November 8, 1919 in Jacksonville, Florida to the late William Morton and Emma Sophronia Bailey West. She grew up in Jacksonville, FL and graduated from Fitzgerald High School in 1937. She was a Registered Nurse, receiving her nurses training from the Middle Georgia Hospital in Macon. Mrs. Santry was a former resident of Columbus, GA, Miami, FL and San Diego, CA. She worked at Medical Arts in Fitzgerald for Dr. John Ed Smith, was a hospital and private duty nurse. Mrs. Santry was a member of the Church Of The Nazarene, where she was the former church pianist.
She is survived by her sister: Abbie West Kendall of Fitzgerald; local nieces and nephews: Dr. R.V. & Joy Reese, Martha MacDermaid and Rev. Raymond Jacobs, along with many more. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Brice Santry.
