Walter S. Raleigh, 87, of Oakland Avenue in Johnston, a Supervisor at the Rolfe Street Post Office in Cranston before retiring in 1976, died Friday, October 13, 2006, at Cherry Hill Manor in Johnston.He was the husband of the late Mary I.(McAuliffe) Raleigh.Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John & Catherine (Mullins) Raleigh. He had been a resident of Johnston since 1946.
He was an avid golfer and a member of Melody Hills. He was a WWII Marine Veteran. He is survived by a son, Stephen of Scituate, three daughters, Joyce R. Walsh of Providence, Susan Huling of Warwick and Mary-Jo Brissette of Cranston, six grandchildren, two great grandchildren and his extended family at Cherry Hill Manor.
His funeral will be held Tuesday at 9am from the *ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Thomas Church, 65 Fruit Hill Avenue, Providence. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation respectfully omitted.
