John F. Desmond, 54 years, died unexpectedly Saturday morning at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center. Born and raised in Newton, he was the son of Eleanor P. (Reilly) Desmond and the late Thomas E. Desmond. He was a 1969 graduate of Our Lady’s Help Christians School in Newton and was employed as an HVAC Technician by Boston College for the past 37 years. John had been a resident of Brockton since 1980 and had been a coach for West Little League for ten years. He was an avid sports fan and enjoyed time spent with his family and grandchildren.
John is survived by his wife Patricia A. (Bennett) Desmond, his children Christopher S., Joseph T. and Kelly A. Desmond all of Brockton and Michael F. Desmond and his wife Elisabeth of Pembroke, NH, two grandchildren Destiny and Dillon Desmond of Pembroke, NH, his mother Eleanor P. (Reilly) Desmond of Newton, five brothers Thomas Desmond of Hudson, MA, William Desmond of Dracut, Joseph Desmond of Newton, Edward Desmond of Newton and Richard Desmond of Oklahoma City, OK, two sisters Mary Cicciu of Medway and Eleanor Miele of Newton, one niece, one nephew, cousins and his in-laws Leo and Barbara Bennett of Yarmouthport and three sisters in law Deborah Bennett, Christine McCarthy and Susan Burlingame.
