Matthew F. Griffin, 89, a Franklin resident since 1951, died Friday, October 13, 2006, at the Newton Wellesley Alzheimer Center in Wellesley. He was the husband of Barbara (Clark) Griffin who died in 1998.
Born in Boston on September 25, 1917, he was a son of the late John P. and Elizabeth (Hayes) Griffin.
Mr. Griffin had worked at the Natick Labs for 20 years retiring in the early 1970’s as a chief contracting administrator and he had formerly worked in the Office of Naval Research at the Charlestown Navy Yard.
Mr. Griffin enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by six sons, Matthew F. Griffin, Jr. of Taunton, Ronald C. Griffin of Medfield, Robert W. Griffin of Bellingham, Roger M. Griffin of Franklin, Richard T. Griffin of Franklin and David B. Griffin of Holliston and four daughters, Barbara Ouillette of Altamonte Springs, Florida, Jean E. Somers of Worcester, Joan M. Doyle of Bellingham and Brenda R. Simoncini of Bellingham.
He is also survived by a brother, Thomas Griffin of Medway, twenty-one grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. He was a brother of the late John Griffin.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Tuesday, October 17 at 10 a.m. at the Franklin Federated Church, 171 Main St. in Franklin. Burial will follow at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Millis.
Calling hours will be held on Monday from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin, 131 Main Street.
