EAST BRIDGEWATER - Manuel J. Munise, 90, of East Bridgewater died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2006, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Eleanor “Dolly” (Bumpus) Munise.
Born March 2, 1916, in Bridgewater, he was the son of the late Manuel and Albina (Ventura) Munise.
Raised in Bridgewater, he attended Bridgewater schools.
Mr. Munise was a plant engineer at Styles & Hart Brick Co. in Bridgewater for 50 years, retiring in 1985.
He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and served during the Battle of the Bulge and received the Bronze Star.
Mr. Munise was a member of the American Legion and Brickworker Union and enjoyed working in his workshop, sporting events, spending time with his great-grandchildren and traveling.
He was the father of Dennis Munise of Brockton, Rosalie Moscato of Raynham and the late Robert Munise; brother of Evangeline Brown of Bridgewater, Beatrice Souza of Medford, Henry Munise of Bridgewater and the late Mary Isabel, Annie Munise, Jesse Munise and Joseph Munise. Also survived by 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
His Funeral will be held from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater, Monday at 8:15 am. Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Aquinas Church at 9 am. Visiting hours Sunday 4-7 pm. Burial in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery.
