Obituary

TEWKSBURY: J. Robert A. Lemieux, age 74, a resident of Tewksbury for 21 years, died Monday, October 9, 2006 at home.
He was the husband of Genevieve A. (Sefsick) Lemieux, with whom he celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary on May 16th.
Born in Lawrence on May 19, 1932, he was the son of the late Alphonse C. Lemieux and Ruth A. (Hayes) (Lemieux) Hurd.
Mr. Lemieux was raised and educated in Lawrence.
He attended St. Mary’s Parochial School and was graduated from Lawrence High School in 1950.
Mr. Lemieux served during the Korean Conflict in the U. S. Army with the Army Security Agency. He was awarded several decorations including the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Following his honorable discharge from active duty, he attended the former Lowell Technological Institute (Lowell Tech), where he received his B.S. Degree and M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Prior to his retirement in 1995, he was employed as a professor for the School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Lowell.
According to his family, he designed and developed the curriculum and oversaw the operations for the Electrical Engineering Department’s evening school program at the University of Lowell.
Prior to moving to Tewksbury in 1985, he resided in Andover for 26 years.
Mr. Lemieux was a communicant of St. William’s Church of Tewksbury.
He was an avid lifelong enthusiast of origami, a technique of folding paper into decorative or representational forms.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons; Scott W. Lemieux of Wilton, NH and James M. Lemieux and his wife Michelle of Windham, NH; one sister; Marilyn E. Findlay and her husband Robert of Verona Island, ME; one granddaughter; Brennan Woo of Flowermound, TX; also several nieces and nephews.
He was the father of the late Barry R. Lemieux and brother of the late Frank L. Lemieux.
Calling hours Thursday, October 12th, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Funeral Friday, October 13th, at 11 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by his Funeral Mass at 12 Noon at St. William’s Church, 1351 Main St., Rte. 38, Tewksbury. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery, Methuen. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to Merrimack Valley Hospice, 360 Merrimack St., Bldg # 9, Lawrence, MA 01843 or to the Tewksbury Fire Dept., 21 Town Hall Ave., Tewksbury, MA 01876 are requested.
