STELLA T. (POLITO) DEVITO, age 92, of Hull, died on Monday, Oct. 9th at the Blue Hills Alzheimers Care Center in Stoughton after a long illness. Mrs. DeVito was born in Hull and was a lifelong resident of the town. She was active in the civic affairs of the town and campaigned several times for the Hull Board of Selectman and also for the Hull Light Board. Mrs. DeVito was a home health aide for many years and was a generous supporter of Wellspring, Inc. and the Hull Boosters. Late in life, she volunteered at the Hull Senior Center and was dedicated to her parish, St. Ann's Church, Hull.
Wife of the late James R. DeVito, Sr., she was the mother of Josephine Lombardo of Hingham, Barbara Presley of Quincy, William S. Presley of Roslindale, Michael T. Damon of Medway and the late James R. DeVito, Jr. She was the sister of James Polito of Florida, the late William Polito, Jr., the late Barbara Meallo, the late Mary Scicchitano, the late Rose DeVito, the late Pauline Binney, the late Florence Polito and the late Josephine Russo. She was the beloved grandmother of Cherylan Cusack of Rockland. Also survived by many other grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, Oct. 13th at 10 AM at St. Ann's Church, corner of Samoset Ave. & Lewis St., Hull.
Friends may visit at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham on Thursday from 4-8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Wellspring, Inc., 814 Nantasket Ave., Hull, MA 02045 or to the Deerfield Senior Day Centers, 20 Pond Park Rd., Hingham, MA 02043.
The interment will be in Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.
