Bristol-Walter Joseph Berry, Jr., 55, of 4 Apple Tree Street died on Friday evening, October 6, 2006 at his home surrounded by his family and friends after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.
Walter was born on August 2nd, 1951 in Hudson, MA, the son of Mary (Manning) Berry and the late Walter J. Berry who died in 1986. He was raised in Marlboro, MA and schooled in Marlboro, MA, and Shrewsbury, MA, graduating in 1969 from St. John’s High School, and received his Master’s Degree in Business from New Hampshire College in 1981.
Walter was the Proprietor of the Glass Store on Durkee Street in Laconia for 15 years. He was a member of the Laconia Country Club, past member of the Laconia Lodge of Elks, BPOE 876, and a longtime coach of the Lakes Region Youth Hockey League. Walter was a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Laconia.
Walter is predeceased by his father Walter J. Berry who died in 1986, his Father-in-law Donald Romprey who died in 1988, and his Mother-in-law Patricia Romprey who died in 2005.
Walter is survived by his wife of 33years, Donna (Romprey) Berry of Bristol, NH; two sons, Patrick Berry of Vero Beach, FL, and Michael Berry of Dover, NH; one daughter, Andrea Berry of Biddeford, ME; his mother, Mary (Manning) Berry of Marlboro, MA; one brother, Paul Berry of New Hampshire; two grandchildren, Brent Porter of Bristol, NH, and Jasmyn Murgatory of Belmont, NH. Many other family members and friends also survive Walter.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, October 10th, 2006 at St. Joseph Church, 30 Church Street, Laconia, NH at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Gary J. Kosmowski pastor of the church celebrated the mass. Burial followed in the family lot at Oakland Cemetery, Meredith Center Road, Meredith Center, NH. Visiting hours were Monday October 9th, 2006 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Simoneau-Paquette Memorial Home, 139 Church Street, Laconia, NH.
