Robert J.”Bob” Powers, 80, died Friday, October 6th at the new England Medical Center ,after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Beverly (Sears) Powers of Whitman.
Born in Worcester and grew up in Whitman, a graduate of Whitman High 1945.He was the son of the late Elliot and Alice (Barry) Powers.
Resident of Whitman for many years.
Bob was a Postman for the Whitman Post Office for 34 years
.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy.
An member of the Holy Ghost Church, Whitman K of C and VFW post 697’
In addition to his wife Beverly, he is survived by a son and daughter –in law, Robert J Powers, Jr and his wife Corlis of Montana,2 brothers, Bernard Powers of Osterville and William Powers of Pocasset. He was also the father of late Stephen and David Powers and brother of the late Richard Powers; two grandchildren, four great grandchildren,many nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Tuesday October 10th at 9:00 A.M., in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman .Burial will follow in the St. James Cemetery in Whitman, Ma.
