BROPHY, GEORGE T. – Of West Roxbury, 98, died at home Oct. 4, 2006 beloved husband of the late Mary (Farrell) Brophy with whom he shared 51 years of marriage. Loving father of George T. Jr. of Dedham & his wife, Lorraine; Mary Renehan of Milton & her husband, Richard; Elaine MacDonald of Chatham & her husband , John; & Joan Landon of Burlington, Vermont, & her husband James.Brother of the late Lawrence, Eileen & Katherine. Dear friend of the late Maria Barry of Dedham. George known as “Pop”, leaves 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. His life was marked by his love of family & friends, his devotion to his country exemplified by his service in the US Navy during WW II, and his active and fruitful life. Funeral from the William J. Gormley Funeral Home, 2055 Centre St.,West Roxbury on Saturday Oct. 7 at 9am followed by a funeral mass in St. Theresa Church at 10 o’clock. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 pm Relatives and friends invited. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery. George was a devoted member of St. Theresa’s Parish for 64 years, Dedham Senior Clubs, the Teamsters Union and an avid bowler.
